IN - BETWEEN is a collection of works that enlarge beautiful details of daily utilitarian objects, used by all of us. It has come to my attention that the user of everyday utilitarian objects shows less and less affinity with these objects. As a result, they have a short lifecycle and are easy to replace. The value of jewellery on the other hand is perceived differently: it is intimate, personal and shows aesthetic qualities. Through research on the formal qualities of everyday objects, a series of contemporary jewellery and objects have been developed. The role of the designer as ‘creator of shapes’ is traded for that of ‘taker of shapes’. Hidden shapes with lots of charisma are discovered in utilitarian objects and are converted into a wearable piece of jewellery or into a new object.
The works are categorized by into four groups, depending on the intervention that has taken place on the original object.
